Storyline: 5 Stars
This was a great fantasy book. It was a refreshing read to be transported into such a unique world with great characters. I think the best part about the book were the relationships. They were healthy and not full of drama like so many fantasy books are. Plus, the narrative voice was really unique!
This was my first Brandon Sanderson book, and I know it is not as heavy as some of his others, but I really enjoyed it. I will most likely read more of his books in the future if they are anything like this one. I would recommend Tress of the Emerald Sea to middle schoolers and adults alike!
Parental Guidance: 95% Recommend
I would recommend this book 95% of the time for parental guidance. I was so relieved with the content of the book. There was no swearing at all. I think there was one case of “d*mn”, but that was it. Plus, the language was wholesome and there were not any other deregetory words used.
The romance was cute and clean. There was barely a kiss mentioned throughout, and the relationship was healthy! Imagine that, a healthy relationship in a fantasy book. Plus, there was not really any dark themes or anything else that I would flag. Honestly, this is one of the cleanest fantasy books that I’ve ever read. I definitely would recommend it.

*Spoilers Ahead*
I had never read Brandon Sanderson, so I was curious what I was going to get myself into. I have had several people recommend his books to me, but I have never gotten around to reading one of them. I finally did after several friends of mine read this book and loved it.
I have been talking about this book for awhile. It was such a clean and great fairytale fantasy. I wish every fantasy book was more like this. Great characters, relationships, and world building. I am so tired of all the fantasy with terrible relationships and weird romance with a not very imaginative world. Brandon Sanderson gets an A+ on this one.
