In Vow of Thieves, the characters are more established in their relationship. One of the villians does try to impress and seduce one of the main characters, but it does not lead anywhere. There was less kissing and romantic scenes, but there was implied intimacy because the characters were married. I always appreciate when the love interests actually get married instead of shacking up, so the book gets a thumbs up for me on the romance!
Violence
There is violence similar to the first book, although there is more destruction. There is some torture when a character is taken prisoner. There are more daggers, launchers, swords, and punches. The bright side is that this book makes it very obvious who the bad guys and the good guys are.
Language
Similiar to the first book, there were a few minor swear words, but they were infrequent. Overall, the language was mild.
Drugs and Alcohol
There was less drinking from the main characteres in this book, although one of the villians did drink wine from time to time.
Diversity
The diversity was similiar to the prior book, except in this one the different characters that had a hard time getting along in the first book are able to team up against the antagonist.
Demographic
The book is for Young Adult readers, which are typically ages 13-18. Like the first book, I would say anyone in middle school or older would be able to read the book.
Storyline
Vow of Thieves was another great fantasy book! I loved the characters and the story. All of the characters work together and complete the story. I also appreciated that the main characters married as I said in the romance section. I’m saddened that these books are over because it will probably be awhile before I find another good fantasy series.
