I spend a lot of time on Goodreads and online looking at popular books. I saw a book that kept popping up everywhere in recent months. A lot of people were reading it and it was getting great reviews. I read the premise of the book and thought it was intriguing. I looked to see if it was a series, and it was. The second book came out a couple of weeks ago. I was getting more excited because it has been a while since I have really been into a book series.

Then last night I was doing more research on the book because I was debating purchasing the two books. It turns out, I will not be touching the book. The content is sexually inappropriate. I read that it contained several explicit scenes, enough that it would be difficult to skip over. I read that there was inappropraite dialogue between characters about sexual topics. On top of that, I read that the book was riddled with swear words.

When I read all of this about Fourth Wing, I turned to my husband and told him how disappointed I was. I was looking forward to reading the book and now I won’t touch it. As a Christian, it can be difficult to find books that have appropriate content. I’m not sure if my husband understood what I was saying, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the reviews I read. It was another book ruined by explicit sexual content.

I will not be reading Fourth Wing or any of the sequels. If I were a parent, I would not recommend having my child read the book. As an adult, I would still stay away from the series. I am disappointed that a book with such an intriguing plot had to include all of the inappropriate content, but that is what most of the world wants. Fourth Wing is not a safe read in my opinion.
